A Beginner’s Guide To Bikram Yoga

A Beginner’s Guide To Bikram Yoga

Founded and developed by Bikram Choudhury, Bikram Yoga is known in the Western countries and the rest of the world as the literally hottest style of yoga. It is the hottest in the sense that it is performed in a heated room with temperature of 90 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Many find it an interesting practice to try out for several good reasons, but what Bikram yoga does generally is to remove toxins from the body.

Yes, Bikram Yoga is hailed throughout the world as a perfect technique for detoxification. It helps eliminate harmful toxins from the body by allowing the system to heat to produce sweats. By staying inside a heated room while doing all the yogic poses and postures, the internal heat that the postures bring will merge with the external heat of the room to allow your body to sweat. The toxins present on your body will then be converted into waste soluble compounds, making them easy to remove.

However, for complete detoxification to happen, one should perform the entire poses standard to Bikram. The postures come in varieties, but Bikram Yoga has 26 movements involved. To start the session, a beginner should stand upright for a few seconds. After the standing postures, back bends and forward bends follow. Twists must also be performed right after the bending poses. While doing the poses from the initial to the final step, every practitioner accompanies it with the right breathing counts and movements. Experts of Birkam Yoga call these breathing steps as the Kapalabhati Breath or fire breath. Aside from that, stretches should be done accompanying the poses to strengthen your joints, tendons, and ligaments. Doing all of these movements will help bring your body to its relaxed state, while uniting all aspects of yourself: the mind, body, and soul.

Bikram Yoga, just like the rest of yogic practices, can be performed without any special equipment. All that is needed in this practice is a comfortable outfit. Loose and light clothing is what most practitioners wear knowing that they can sweat in it and it is more comfortable to wear than other types of clothing. It is further important to note that Bikram Yoga is done using a similar routine, so one should try not to get bored of it. The poses should be done regularly to achieve the best results, as well.

Now, if what you want is a body that is healthy and toxin-free, try Bikram Yoga. This cool practice is offered in classes today and can be found anywhere in the United States and the rest of the countries.
