Talking About Meditation Supplies

Talking About Meditation Supplies

The term “meditation supplies” tend to have some wrong tones to it. It is one not often used, as the whole term itself stands to contradict the very nature of meditation and meditation practices. Many make the mistake of using the “meditation supplies” term when they are actually denoting meditation equipment, hence the area where meditation supplies come as wrongly used or erroneous.

Basically, when meditation supplies are mentioned, what is being talked about isn’t the variety of meditation supplies which are consumable, as there are none. What is being referred to would be meditation equipment or materials, and not meditation supplies, in the sense which the term denotes. Though there is no rule which dictates what term should be used for what, many meditation practitioners prefer using meditation equipment or meditation materials over using the meditation supplies term.

Generally, what is being talked about with the meditation supplies term, would be actual equipment and materials geared in facilitating a meditation practice to prevail. Take note, the keyword in the phrase is facilitate, meaning the presence of these meditation supplies, meditation equipment or meditation materials, call them what you may, isn’t necessary for a meditation practice to actually happen.

The most commonly encountered of meditation equipment types would be meditation benches. Again, there aren’t really exact rules defining the construction of such benches, suffice to state that most meditation benches are made to allow those who aren’t used sitting crossed legged to easily do so. Design variations would include support for a meditation practitioner’s back. Cushions would be another popular type of meditation equipment, which could either be or not used with meditation benches. Again, the maximum comfort levels of a meditation practitioner calls for their need in a meditation situation.

With meditation materials, meditation specific or ideal music would be a good example, as well as literature which talks about meditation. Typically, instrumentals would be the most popular of meditation music, as well as recorded sounds of nature, like the sound of a running stream, or birds chirping in the morning, or the sounds of waves. Meditation guide books, as well as other meditation inspiring write-ups tend to fill up the list of meditation literature roster.

Other meditation materials would include sensory enhancers, like those of incense, as well as chimes, capable of producing melodies sure to calm a meditation practitioner’s being.

So again, the meditation supplies term is one not really often used, as the terms meditation equipment and/or meditation materials are considered to be the more politically correct terms when talking about such items.
