The Six Naturopathic Medical Schools

There are currently six naturopathic medical schools where students can receive a degree in naturopathic medicine. The schools are Bastyr University, Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine & Health Sciences, Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, National College of Natural Medicine , University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine, and Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.

Bastyr University

Bastyr University is located in the middle of woods and gives their students an appreciation of rustic living, but it is still close enough to Seattle that students can enjoy all the social opportunities of a large city. Students considering naturopathic medical schools will be interested in knowing that Bastyr encourages free thinking and an open exchange of thoughts and ideas about naturopathic medicine.

Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine & Health Sciences

This naturopathic medical school is seeking students who are interested, not just in naturopathic medicine, but also innovative learning. This Phoenix based school takes pride in its naturopathic contributions to pediatrics, women’s health and environmental medicine.

Boucher Institute Of Naturopathic Medicine

This school is the newest of the naturopathic medical schools. Boucher Institute is the brainchild of a group of naturopathic visionaries who felt that students needed a naturopathic medical school that featured smaller classes. One of the perks of the smaller class sizes is that students can make use of the school’s mentorship program and an innovative curriculum. Although it takes the average student four years to receive a degree from Boucher Institute the founders arranged a six-year program to assist students who are only able to attend school part time.

National College Of Natural Medicine

Located in Portland, Oregon the National College of Natural medicine is the oldest of all six naturopathic medical schools, it was established in the middle of the 1950’s. If a student is not interested in perusing a naturopathic medical degree they can enroll in the National College of Natural Medicine’s Classical Chinese School, where they can earn a master’s degree in Chinese medicine and cures. The school has a naturopathy school where student’s can earn their doctorate in naturopathic medicine. Both programs are four-year degree programs.

University Of Bridgeport College Of Naturopathic Medicine

Students who attend the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine will learn all about naturopathic nutrition, chiropractics, and acupuncture while living within driving distance of New York City.

Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine

This naturopathic medical school prides itself on providing its students with an outstanding naturopathic education while at the same time researching innovative naturopathic research techniques. Another point of pride is the school’s herbal garden. There are over 150 different plants and herbs that can be used for naturopathic medicinal needs. Applications for the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine must be submitted by January 31 if the student wishes to start the fall term or by September 30th if they prefer the winter semester. Students can expect to take four years to complete their degree program. Students receive a doctorate in naturopathic medicine when they complete the program.
