The Principles Of A Naturopathic Physician

A naturopathic physician generally believes in some principles that he has learned from alternative medicine. These beliefs have lead the naturopathic physician to practice wellness and health by using natural elements as well as natural manipulation.

Natural Healing

The naturopathic physician's belief in the power of natural elements such as botanicals and manipulation in treating many conditions is well founded. Many of the practices and modalities of naturopathy are based on ayurvedic medicines, Asian medicine and many others. Most of these ways of healing base their methods on botanicals that can have positive effects on patients.

The naturopathic physician also believes that our body has the capacity to heal itself with the help of botanicals and manual manipulation. In many cases, the naturopathic physician tends to identify obstacles to healing and health as well as removing these through naturopathy. By actively identifying causes of the condition, the naturopathic physician can then remove these causes instead of just addressing the symptoms of these conditions.

This belief in naturopathy also focuses on using methods of treating patients that bring the least harm to them. Many naturopathic physicians initially recognize the individual capacity of each patient for self healing. Upon this recognition the physician then resolves to work with the self healing process in improving the individual's condition.

Teaching The Patient Self Healing

One aspect of naturopathy that doctors or physicians of this field believe in is to teach the patient how to effectively use their innate self healing capacities. Diet and exercise are among the many methods of self healing that are promoted by the naturopathic physician. In this regard, the naturopathic physician also considers the patient’s over all health and wellness.

Included in over all health are spiritual health, emotional state, mental health and many other aspects of the body and mind. The importance of healing the patient in all aspects is also paramount for naturopathy.

Prevention Is Better Than Any Cure

Another aspect to naturopathy that many naturopathic physicians encourage is the prevention of sickness. Many doctors of naturopathy assess an individual's risk for certain diseases and conditions and apply prevention for these. This belief in prevention and elimination of risk factors are safeguards to ensure that the patient can expect to be healthy.

Naturopathic physicians who wish their patients wellness and health usually uphold the principles of naturopathy. These are also some of the reason why many people like to lean towards naturopathy because of the natural healing and caring given by the practitioners of this field.
