The Right Dosage Of Saw Palmetto

With saw palmetto seemingly addressing a lot of health issues associated especially with men, the right dosage is required for each specific case – for each specific individual. The appropriate dosage of saw palmetto will be in order, so that an effective treatment will be attained. While some may doubt is full efficacy, many have also benefited from its use, with due consideration of the potency of the product and the right dosage of saw palmetto that is administered.

Claims of treating prostate diseases, upper respiratory tract infection, asthma, sore throats, bronchitis, colds, hair loss, impotence, lack of energy and many more – have all been associated with the use of saw palmetto. Regardless of the absurdity of some claims, and the presence of conflicting claims, many still give saw palmetto a try. Some take heed on the history of this herb’s use and base their belief of saw palmetto’s healing claims on that.

Saw palmetto’s use is widespread in Europe. Chinese medicinal practices regard saw palmetto to be of nourishing effect, and an aphrodisiac at that. In Germany a research was made that confirms the herb’s positive health benefits in relation to the treatment of enlarged prostate problems. The evaluations and basis are many – though not conclusive, but definitely creates a strong impression of worth, value and effectiveness of the saw palmetto herb.

Taking in saw palmetto medication must be with your doctor’s consent. This is to ensure safety on your side, making sure that it will not interact adversely with any medication you are currently taking – and making sure there is nothing that would go wrong with taking such.

It is thus important that the right dosage of saw palmetto be taken – as per your doctor’s advice. It does not do you any good to take more – and may just be of detrimental effect to your health. It is always true that anything taken in excess – even if it is good, will be bad for one.

The usual dosage of saw palmetto is around 320 mg per day – in a single dose or divided into 2 doses (80% up to 90% liposterolic content) within a day – for the treatment of BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia). There are also studies that suggest the following dosages: 1 up to 2 grams of crushed & dried berries daily, or 1 milliliters up to 2 milliliters fluid extract of the berry pulp three times daily, or 4 ounces of a saw palmetto tea three times daily.

The fact of the matter is – the right dosage of saw palmetto for you is mainly dependent on your particular case and situation. Factors as age, current state of physical health, the existing illness you may have, the current medications you are taking, the particular disease you are intending the herb to target, and the like – all play a part in your doctor’s consideration in coming up with the right dosage of saw palmetto that fits you right.
