The Concept Of Adventure Touring Motorcycles

Basically, adventure touring motorcycles are large-displacement dual-sport motorcycles and touring motorcycles all rolled into one package. They come with big tires, large fuel tanks, hard luggage compartments, as well as, comfortable seats and high ground clearance levels, and have no problems dealing with rough and smooth terrain.

Dual-sport motorcycles as adventure touring motorcycles, are basically a combination between three popular motorcycle types, off-road, on-road motorcycles and touring motorcycles. Adventure touring motorcycles boast the same features of on-road and off-road motorcycles, neglecting certain elements of each type, to further enhance the overall performance of adventure touring motorcycles. As touring motorcycles, the also come with components of touring motorcycles.

Off-road motorcycles could be visually defined as motorcycles with high ground clearance values. Adventure touring motorcycles have this, as high ground clearance values on motorcycles make them more versatile when it comes to dealing with rough terrain. Off-road motorcycles are often used on dirt track motorcycle events like Motocross, and often come without "road rule" elements like taillights, headlights and plate number holders, making them non-street legal motorcycles.

Adventure touring motorcycles have these non-street legal aspects of off-road motorcycles installed, as their weight isn't exactly an issue with regards their intended purpose. Truly, they are simply a cross between dual-sports motorcycles and touring motorcycles.

On-road motorcycles are geared for smooth travel on paved roads. They are built, on a general scale, for speed on smooth surfaces, and could easily cover a wide area in a few minutes. Adventure touring motorcycles come equipped with the features of on-road motorcycles, capable of cruising on paved roads with no hassle at all.

The major issue with regards adventure touring motorcycles comes with deciding which aspect of the motorcycle a driver would want to focus on. Touring over adventuring, would be something one should seriously think about before getting an adventure touring motorcycle on the spot.

If touring is simply the main goal, getting "stockier", albeit more room for luggage, adventure touring motorcycles would be the way to go, as this breed of adventure touring motorcycles are quite efficient with their intended purpose as touring motorcycles. If adventuring is more of one's focus, along with a degree of long distance cruising, then lighter, more compact types of adventure touring motorcycles would be the best option.

All in all, adventure touring motorcycles stand as the ultimate amalgam between three popular motorcycle types, and picking the right type totally depends on what a driver intends to primarily put the motorcycle through.
