The architect usually works alongside of an engineers when working out the specifics of the plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and electrical work being done to the structure.

General contractors give bids for the work that needs to be done in constructing the building according to the specifications made by the client and architect. The architect normally aids the client during this process. The architect then works sort of as a foreman for the construction.
