Bartending can actually be a very dangerous job, think about it, you are there, behind the bar, serving people drink after drink and many of those people will not really have good judgment, when it comes to knowing when to quit. Once someone goes overboard with their alcohol, many times it can be a potentially dangerous setting. You, as the bartender, will need to know how to handle any type of dangerous situation that could arise at any given time. If you are unprepared for it, you could be caught off guard and even find yourself into some serious trouble. It is so important for you to be prepared for any terrible situation, no matter how ugly things could get. Typically in a setting, where there is a bartender, you will not find any type of security, which means some of this is on you. The important thing to remember, in case of an emergency is to, not leave from behind the bar, if at all possible.

By doing so, you are putting yourself in a potentially very dangerous situation, among the fact that you could also end up finding yourself in jail once it is all said and done. You have to use good judgment and some common sense when you are bartending and dealing with the public in such a close manner. If there is alcohol involved, there will be many instances where you will need to either shut some people up or even call in the police if necessary. Bartending can be an awesomely fun and exciting job to get into but it can also be challenging, especially when you have some, not so friendly drunks in your bar. As long as you are well prepared and knowledgeable about all of the laws, then you should be in good hands. Everything could be resolved by you, using a stern voice, warning them of the consequences, if they continue with their bad, drunken behavior. Usually that should do the trick and they will either leave the bar or they will choose to keep their mouth shut, which is what everyone would want.

If you ever find yourself in a potentially dangerous situation while you are bartending, you have got to be prepared for anything that could arise. Follow your gut instinct, if the situation has gotten out of hand and you feel that it could turn out very badly, then call the police. Do not wait for it to get so very out of control that someone ends up getting injured or even worse. It is partly your responsibility as the bartender, to take care of your customers, even if it means calling the police to prevent anyone from getting hurt. Like I said, bartending can be fun and exciting but can also lead to potentially dangerous events, so you have to know how to take care of yourself and your customers, just in case something terrible does arise, from too much drinking.
