Association For Career And Technical Education

Career and technical education has been recognized throughout the world as one of the fastest growing trend in the learning industry. Thousands of schools and institutions are now offering knowing that more and more people have got interest in studying everything that is related to the field. With this growing preference, the career and technical education, which is also known as vocational education, is now handled considerably by certain organizations, other than the Department of Education. The largest, so far, of these organizations is the Association for Career and Technical Education.

The Association for Career and Technical Education is known throughout the United States as the largest national education association that is dedicated to the advancement of education that will prepare the youth and adults in obtaining a career that will help make them responsible and highly productive citizens. The association was founded in 1926 and since that year, they hold and maintained their aim of providing leadership that will help the competitive workforce make a difference in the world.

There are a number of things involved in the Association for Career and Technical Education. The main strength of the association is actually its number diverse membership that is currently composed of more than 26,000 of career and technical educators, administrators, researchers, and guidance counselors, not to mention those who are involved in planning and conducting the career and technical education programs which are offered at the secondary, postsecondary and adult levels.

Composed of professionals, the Association for Career and Technical Education works basically to improve the job performance and satisfaction of its members. The association also works to enhance the awareness and appreciation of the public for the career and technical programs. Along with these functions, the Association for Career and Technical Education works with the legislators and the leaders of the government to assure that the local, state and federal funding for their career education programs is continually given for the benefit of those who are working in the educational field.

The Association for Career and Technical Education is now composed of twelve divisions. Each of these divisions represents a specific part of the career and technical education professionals, and each of these divisions is represented on the Association’s board of directors by a vice president which is but elected by the board itself. The divisions maintained by the Association for Career and Technical Education include Administration, Adult Workforce Development, Agricultural Education/NAAE, Business Education, Family and Consumer Sciences Education, Guidance, Health Science Technology Education, Marketing Education, New and Related Services, Special Needs, Technology Education, and Trade and Industrial Education. The members of the Association for Career and Technical Education have the rights to designate one division and this designation is considered as part of their yearly dues. And, if the association’s members consider additional memberships, a fee of about $10 per year is considered. This division membership rule is maintained by the Association for Career and Technical Education until now.
