One way is to go back to school while the other is to find work as an apprentice. It might take more than 2 years to complete but it is all worth it when you get a call about an upcoming project.

Most carpenters work a standard 40 hour work week while at times this could me much longer depending on the project. It will involve a lot of standing, kneeling, climbing and bending so you have to be physically fit at all times. A carpentry career is affected by a lot of factors such as the weather and the current economic conditions. With the housing market down, it is hard to find work building a house so your best bet will be to look for work in the construction industry especially when there are shortages during peak periods of the building activity.
