The training will also include professional telephone techniques, scheduling appointments, interviewing and instructing patients, making arrangements for patient admission to a hospital, maintaining financial records and files, completing insurance forms, preparing and maintaining employee's payroll records, assisting patients in preparing for examinations, cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment, collecting specimens, performing electrocardiograms, and assisting physician's with treatment surgeries.
Included also in the program are academic courses in communication, quantitative reasoning or math, and social sciences that provide knowledge and abilities in which technical skills are built and enhance personal development.
Math for medical assistants is obviously very helpful considering the task that you may be performing in the future. What you have studied in medical assistant school may not all be used or put into practice that is because every office or clinic has different staffing and services.
