The AAMA Medical Assistant Exam

Many of the medical employers today prefer to hire medical assistants who are highly experienced and trained in medical assisting. They highly valued those who have passed the national certification exam which is usually administered by the American Association of Medical Assistants, the leading national organization for medical assisting in the United States.

If you want better chances of getting hired, then taking up and passing the medical assistant exam is no doubt the best way of making it possible. The exam is offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) thrice a year or specifically in January, June and October. There are certain requirements for the applicants to meet though and those who qualified for this national medical assistant exam can take it on the said month, according to the exact date given by the organization. Usually, the national medical assistant exam administered by the American Association of Medical Assistants is given on the last Friday in January, the last Saturday in June, and the fourth Friday in the month of October.

As mentioned earlier, there are certain qualifications or criteria needed for the applicants to meet. Included in these criteria are three major categories. The first category belongs to the graduating students or a recent graduate of a medical assisting program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). The second category belongs to the non-recent graduates of a CAAHEP accredited medical assisting program, and the last is for those who are graduating from a medical assisting program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). If any of these categories are met, then you can apply for the medical assistant exam and wait for your exam schedule. You will be notified about this matter by AAMA itself.

How to pass the exam?

Well, passing the national medical assistant exam is easy if you are just willing to do the risks of studying hard. Yes, if you are willing to study for it, there's a better chance for you to reach the passing mark. Studying for this medical assistant exam is after all not that hard as a lot of valuable tools are available for you to use. Just find ways to obtain the study resources. You can go to AAMA as they have compiled a list of publishers who print valuable resources for the exam. Also, you can take a medical assistant review course if available in your area. You can also consider taking up a practice test which is to some degree arranged in a manner similar to that of the actual certification medical assistant examination. For further chances of passing, try to note and review the content outline for the examination. You can even ask for help from those who have already taken and passed the test.

Indeed, there's nothing best you can do to pass the exam than to do your part wholeheartedly. Invest your time, interest and effort to make your dreams of becoming a certified medical assistant real.
