Nursing Research into Practice

In the face of a nursing shortage, research is one way to foster administrative support.

Nursing research describe the evidence to support nursing practice, so nursing research is funded by American Nurses Foundation, the National Institute for Nursing Research, and the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society and other institutions. Nursing research books are also available offering coverage on qualitative research, including important issues for specific qualitative traditions. Two large areas of Nursing Research are Quantitative Research which is used to develop and employ mathematical models, theories, and hypotheses, and Qualitative Research relies on reasons behind various aspects of behavior that govern human action.

Nursing research is done by data collection and analysis. Researches begin with a systematic review of the information, then review of the existing literature, identifying other research done in a specific area, then refinement of the idea. This nursing research can be applied directly to clinical practice. Results of nursing research offer new solutions for patients providing their care. Nurse researchers look for solutions to the health problems that confront people from birth to death - that's why Nursing Research today focuses mostly on practice. Studies can lead to new procedures for treating patients or they can validate standard procedures that are already in place. New approaches would be essential for improving prospects requiring further research. Nursing research is patient centered.

Nursing research includes topics not only about nursing care, nursing services, nursing education, but also specialties in nursing, patient's reactions and adjustments, historical, philosophical, and cultural issues, and nursing organizations and important publications.

Nursing research must be comprehensive, up-to-date, critical, concise, well-written, accurate, authoritative, reliable, and analytical to promote evidenced-based nursing care. Nursing research are useful information that may be used as reference guide for a research paper or research project for information gathering or idea enhancing.

Nurses, doctors, dentists, and other nursing research administrators bring different perspective and expertise to a collaboration which can both enrich and complicate studies. These studies from different personnels must all be accommodated. Nursing research encourage nurses to ask clinical-questions that protect and enhance patient care. These studies conclude to information that addresses what is best for the patient.

An institutional review board (IRB) must approve first a new nursing research project. IRB monitors research for trustworthiness, whether it is worthwhile or if will make a difference. Then investigators implement the project, once the IRB grants approval.

Nursing Research, a most sought-after nursing resource, covers key issues, including health promotion, human responses to illness, acute care nursing research, symptom management, cost-effectiveness, vulnerable populations, health services, and community-based nursing studies. Nurses bring holistic perspectives and new findings while doing the research. Best of all it is a way of caring for patients.
