Dominican Cigars, Redefining of the Caribbean Quality Cigar

It seems that people have been clamoring over Cuban cigars for the wrong rationale. Who can blame them, when the majority of the last century Cuba indeed did churn out the best brands of cigars there is.

The truth is: all the islands along the Caribbean are blessed with the heavenly mixture of fertile soil and eternal sunshine. No other ecological combination can be better for tobacco crops. In fact, these arable lands are known throughout the ages, when the old world powers vie for control on these tremendously fertile islands more than all the prospects of gold in the New World.

All this is saying that Cuba isn't the only island blessed with a superb micro climate. All Caribbean islands share the same arable soils: Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, these islands do have the ecology that can nurture the best tobacco. But we also know that good tobacco isn't the only constituent of any fine cigar. The skill of the cigar manufacturer, defined in the process of curing and fermenting, the leaf selection, and the technique of using the right mix of available tobacco leaves also contributes largely at the quality of the outcome. And again, since Cuba was a predominantly a Spanish colony that provide luxury products like tobacco to its queen, Cuba had a considerable inheritance of the cigar making knowledge.

However, all that is to change. Ever since the advent of practical technology, the liberation of incarcerated tobacco lore, and the obviously unconstructive socialist regime, Cuban tobacco now ceases to exist as being the only best (if not totally overtaken) in tobacco and cigar industry. In fact, many expert planters had already fled from the country into the neighboring islands and to engage in the tobacco business on a more friendly policy.

That's exactly why Dominican cigars came to be the better in opposition to Cuban cigars. Because no longer was Cuba capable of housing the better planters since its government just can't allow competitive market to take place. The results were obvious; most Cuban cigar brand names have already migrated to the Dominican Republic, which should be rightfully called Dominican cigars than otherwise. Just can't believe it now, can you? Just check your latest box of Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, H. Upmann or Cohiba. See if it isn't Dominican Cigars.

It is really obvious; Cuba did have an ecology capable of sustaining excellent tobacco, but so do Dominican Republic. Cuba once did have excellent cigar rollers, but because of a totalitarian government that can't allow competitive market, these cigar rollers made its way to Dominican Republic. Now all that remains is the secret to be revealed. Which is ultimately better: Dominican cigars or Cuban cigars?
