Survey Data Collection Design Key In Getting Accurate Numbers
This writer is a member of several online survey groups and an ex-member of some really bad online survey groups. One of the reasons I quit some online survey groups is because of their poor survey data collection design. The other main reason was that they took too long to download onto my computer or didn’t offer any adequate compensation. There is no point hiring a data collection company if they can't get their members to take the surveys.
The Wheat From The Chaff
Data collection design needs to have very focused surveys that are pertinent to the volunteers in the survey pool website, otherwise they will just be ignored. The data collection design for these surveys needs to ride the fine line between being too long and too short. You also need to have accurate data keeping from your survey company.
But you can’t have a good survey company that is not able to entice its members to take the surveys. Although a survey website may have a very large membership, how many of those members actually do surveys? And, of those, how many actually take the time to read what they are voting for or do they just click buttons in patterns to get through the survey as quickly as possible?
Proper Prizes
In order to quickly see if a survey company is for you, take a look at the data collection design for the rewards offered to the survey members. Is it just an entry for a large cash prize drawing? This gets old fast for survey takers and these are the ones where people will quit first. They quickly cotton on to the fact that the odds of them getting any compensation for their time and effort are next to none. Although you can’t make a living out of taking online surveys, there should be some sort of compensation which makes it fun and profitable for survey members.
The data collection design for the rewards page of the survey takers should include cash or checks, gift certificates and lots of them. There also should be chances of free samples to try for more intensive market studies. One of the most thrilling experiences in survey taking which kept me on one survey site was getting an entire package of gourmet chocolate chip and almond cookies to study intensively. Now, that's my idea of a proper data collection design.
