PC Tune Up: Keeping Out The Spammers!

There is nothing more annoying than the Spammers! Who in the world wants to wake up to 250 new bulk mails? Thank goodness they are in the bulk folder, or we would all be getting new email addresses at the drop of a hat!

You would be amazed at how many Spam emails are received every day, all over the world. Almost half of every email sent is a spam of some kind! The amount of money it costs for the Spammers to be in business is even more staggering! (We are talking a number well into the billions of dollars on a yearly basis!)

How do the Spammers get your email? Actually, most of the time, the information comes from you, one way or another. Even if you don't intentionally give out your information, if your security isn't up to speed, hackers can still get a hold of the information and sell it to the Spammers.

The worst part of getting Spam isn't even the volume; it is the nature of them. It is not uncommon for women to get ads about prostate cancer products or other male enhancement products. Likewise, some men receive discounts on feminine products

They are not just a hassle to get out of your mailbox, either; these Spams will cost you some money to get rid of, too. You will need to download software to help keep it under control. Aside from this software, you really could make it easy on yourself by regularly checking your Internet Security options and updating them often. You can also help yourself by not giving out your email addy any more than you need to, as this is the root of the evil process known as spamming.

With that said, if you should find yourself in need of assistance in controlling the Spam, you can do several things. You could keep marking these messages as Spam and sending it to your email provider and let them take the time to follow up on it. You could invest in some software to help ward off the Spammers. The software is easy to install and does not cost a ton of money. You can download it off the Internet or you can drive down to your local computer software store and purchase what you need.

There's also a program called "Challenge/Response" and it is a huge help when it comes to removing those annoying Spam emails. You can also find this program online and download it for a fairly small fee. (Under $10 to use for an entire year.) How does this program work? Well, basically when anyone tries to send a Spam type message to a computer that possess this program, they will be required to input information that you would have to give them. If they don't know the "pass" information, then they cannot send you the information at all! This program actually can rid your computer of almost all of your Spam messages. It doesn't get any better than that!

Another thing that is on your side is your email service provider. Most have Spam filters and you can tell the programs exactly how much you want your email address guarded. But the biggest key to solving this problem is to watch what you are doing on the Internet.

There are Spyware programs designed to spy on you and hack into your information. Once the hackers have your information, they will use it to sell to Spammers. Don't tell you email address any more than you have to. It will lessen your chance of someone else getting their dirty little hands on it and using it for their scams!

If you don't want to spend hour after hour sifting thorough you email on a daily basis, there are simple steps to take to avoid that situation. You can adjust and update your Internet Security Settings, you can download Spam filtering programs and you can make a conscience effort to not give out your information more than necessary.
