Ink jet printers, while a blessing* when they first emerged into the scene, are fraught with a number of snags. The cartridge, in particular, has several reported end consumer difficulty. Since the earlier versions of cartridges incorporate both print head and the ink cartridge, it was only natural that such maintenance would be costly in the long run, being as to replace both print head and ink cartridge when the ink runs out. On the manufacturer’s side, the print head was listed as a consumable (dispensable) such that it won’t allow higher quality variations for the sake of competitive pricing.
The ink cartridge replacement feature (a dilemma which only became evident long after ink jet printers have been used extensively) was its most notable flaw. Such action prompted improved print head quality and now, newer printer technologies have much greater results output-wise than in the past.
