Wide Format Printers

As optical technology advances a step further into the 20th century, quality became more and more a deciding factor in photo and printing technology. Raster effects, while a significant technology in those primitive printers whose technology are heavily limited to resolution capability and printer head design aren’t benchmarking properties in nowadays printing standards. Dye sublimation and modern inkjet techniques allowed a more seamless quality in continuous tone techniques.

Wide format printers are conventionally used for professional applications. The usual at 24 inches, some wide format printers are remarkably wider in terms of capability and quality wise, even the lowest-end wide format printers would be superior compared to any typical modern printer. For that reason, the best wide format printers are often a measure of how ‘picture perfect’ optical technology has become.

Take note however, that with every state of the art technology embedded on a system, price also shoots upward. Wide format printers can cost as much (if not more than) any commercial printer systems, the most generous would be at $2,000. That feature makes these machines too high priced for private use. According to a study made by CAP Ventures, it was found that an approximate 76 percent of the wide format printer purchases are printing businesses: those that engage actively in printing arts such as advertising, or those that do pay-per-print commerce.
