A good soluble plant fiber diet is very important, as soluble fiber is necessary for the digestive tract to work properly. Soluble fiber binds with fatty acids and prolongs stomach emptying time so that sugar is released and absorbed more slowly. If you are trying to lose weight or just stay at a healthy weight, soluble fiber is very important to have in your diet because it will keep you from overeating.

One of the main reasons that so many people are overweight these days is because they are eating too many fried, fatty foods, and not consuming enough foods with fiber.

If you have a fiber free diet, you are not going to be passing bowel movements regularly enough and you are going to need to create a soluble plant fiber diet for yourself right away. It is very simple to make a soluble plant fiber diet, and here are some tips that will help to get you started.

Food Sources of Soluble Fiber

If you need to create a soluble plant fiber diet, there are a few foods in particular that you are going to want to include. Oat and oat bran, dried beans and peas, nuts, barley, flax seed, fruits such as oranges and apples, vegetables such as carrots, and psyllium husk are all very high in soluble fiber.

Of course you will also want to include some of the foods that are high in insoluble fiber, such as fruit skins, vegetables like green beans and dark leafy green vegetables, corn bran, seeds and nuts, and wheat oat.

Make sure that you mix it up and include a variety of these foods in your diet, and never try to stick to eating the same meals over and over again. Not only will this make you grow bored of your foods and probably end up craving sweets and foods that are bad for you even more, but as well it will not help you be as healthy as you could be.

If you are just getting started or have food allergies for instance, or other details that creating a diet would be difficult, then you may want to work with a nutritionist when it comes to your soluble plant fiber diet.
