Insoluble Fiber Diet: Foods To Include And Avoid

If you want to create and begin following an insoluble fiber diet, chances are that you are frequently constipated and that you need to start passing bowel movements on a more regular basis. First and foremost you should know that even though laxatives and related products are okay to take here and there, you want to be careful and make sure that you are not taking them too often because if this happens, your body may become dependent on them.

If you thought the problem was bad you had no idea, and so instead of turning to laxatives every time, you want to make sure that you are following a proper insoluble fiber diet.

Foods to Include

There are lots of different foods that you can include in your insoluble fiber diet. Insoluble fiber is the type of fiber that helps move bulk through the intestines, and so if you have a problem with regularity, then you are going to want to eat lots of insoluble fiber.

This includes foods like vegetables, fruit skins and root vegetable skins, wheat oat, corn bran, and almost all seeds and nuts. These foods are very easy to include in your daily meals, for instance you can sprinkle nuts over your salads and make sure to eat veggies on the side of every meal.

Foods to Avoid

There are also certain foods that you are going to want to avoid. Most dairy, especially cheese, should be avoided if you have a problem with constipation. This doesn’t mean that you can never eat these sorts of food again, but you do want to limit yourself. All fatty, fried foods are culprits for causing constipation, so be sparing with these as well.

As long as you are eating a generally healthy diet, you should have no problem with constipation, just make sure that not only are you eating right but that you are also drinking enough water and exercising on a regular basis. This way you will be regular all the time and never have to worry about taking laxatives.

If you need more insoluble or soluble fiber diet help, know that there are plenty of professionals out there that you can turn to so that you can get advice. They will be able to assess your current health condition, take any food preferences and allergies into consideration, and then work with you to create a personalized food plan that is going to work for you in the long term.
