The Truth About The Low Fiber High Protein Diet

Let’s face it. Following strict diet plans aren’t easy. We have to give up a lot of the fattening, sugary foods that we love in order to lose the weight and keep it off. A lot of us end up breaking down and eating forbidden foods such as fattening cuts of meat. When the low fiber high protein diet was popularized, many people were ecstatic. They could eat as much meat and fat as they wanted without worrying about gaining weight or breaking their diet plan. However, is a high protein low fiber diet safe?

The low fiber high protein diet is the opposite of the high-carb, low-fat diet, which was the previous diet plan for those trying to lose weight. High protein diets recommend getting at least 30 to 40 percent of your calories from protein. Foods high in carbs and fiber such as whole grains are limited in this type of diet.

The idea of the low fiber high protein diet is to reduce the amount of calories you consume from fiber and carbohydrates so your body is forced to burn fat. These diets are popular with body builders and people who want to gain muscle mass and lose weight. For a while doctors were worried that these diets had serious side effects for the health but they are not as dangerous as they were once feared to be since many people have a hard time following the diet strictly and tend to modify it a bit.
The Downside of a Low Fiber High Protein Diet

The problem with a low fiber high protein diet is that it too little carbohydrates and fiber are consumed. Carbohydrates and fiber are very important to good health. This diet may help you lose weight fast but it is not balanced. By consuming so much meat and less whole grains and vegetables, you will also have problems getting a sufficient amount of essential vitamins and minerals. The lack of sugar may also have you feeling antsy.

In conclusion, if you want to reach a state of optimum health, your best bet is to eat a balanced diet high in fiber, protein, carbohydrates, and other essential nutrients. A low fiber high protein diet may help you lose weight but it is not a long-term solution because it can lead to nutritional deficiencies. Rather than limiting yourself to particular foods, try eating a variety of things so you can stay healthy and lose weight naturally.
