Why You Should Be Eating A Soluble Fiber Diet

It is very important that everyone is eating a soluble fiber diet. You may have heard how important fiber is before, but are probably not aware just what a significant role it plays in your diet and nutrition overall. Especially if you notice that you have frequent problems with constipation, this is information that you are going to want to be aware of.

There are various different reasons as to why you need to have a diet that is high in fiber. Recent findings on the health effects of fiber show it may play a role in various digestive disorders and other health conditions, and even cancer.

If you are not already eating a high soluble fiber diet, here are some tips that you can use to change your lifestyle and start getting yourself into a healthier state in general.

Foods

Foods that are good to include in a soluble fiber diet are oat bran, oatmeal, beans, peas, rice bran, barley, citrus fruits, strawberries, and apple pulp. Besides eating foods that are high in soluble fiber, you also want to make sure that you are including foods that are high in insoluble fiber in your diet.

This would include foods such as whole wheat breads, wheat cereals, cabbage, carrots, Brussels sprouts, turnips, cauliflower, and apple skin.

Tips

Besides making sure that you are eating the right foods and following a soluble fiber diet, there are a few other tips that you are going to want to keep in mind as well. To go along with your soluble fiber diet, you want to make sure that you are getting lots of regular exercise. After all, you can eat as healthy as you want, but if you are not getting enough exercise then your body is not going to be able to flush itself out.

Just as important is making sure that you are getting an adequate supply of water. Without water, the fiber is just going to be sitting in your body, but if you are drinking enough water, which is typically about six to eight glasses of water a day, then it will flush out the fiber and help keep you regular.

You can speak to your doctor more about this and to get further advice on which foods you should be including in your diet. Just make sure that you follow this correctly, and you should not have any problems with bowel movements and being healthy.
