Causes Of Childhood Obesity: Overeating Is The Main Culprit

There are more than one causes of childhood obesity though the main cause is overeating accompanied by a sedentary lifestyle and general physical inactivity. Children that consume too many calories and who do not exercise to burn up those calories are most likely to suffer from obesity because each calorie that is not burnt up will translate into body fat and subsequent obesity. Other main causes of childhood obesity include the child's genes, his or her general health condition, physical activity levels as well as certain psychological concerns.

Subconscious Disorders

There no doubts the fact that main causes of childhood obesity are certain and perhaps subconscious disorders as well as lifestyles that obviously are not healthy or conducive to staying in good shape. However, foremost among the many causes of childhood obesity is improper eating habits and bad food choices. The foods that parents prepare, or obtain from the grocers; or order from fast food chains are more than likely loaded with calories and fat and this contributes greatly to the growing incidences of childhood obesity.

To prevent your child from becoming obese it is necessary that you as parent study the main causes of childhood obesity and then do simple things such as changing your child's diet and ensuring that he or she remains physically active as well. All too easily a parent is known to let their young children become addicted to TV, computer games and other activities that will turn the child into a couch potato.

Bad behavior among children is also leading causes of childhood obesity because such children tend to consume foods that are not nutritious but, are high in fat content. These children also become addicted to fast foods that are major causes of childhood obesity and they also cannot abstain from eating tempting and rich desserts as well as drinking beverages loaded with sugar. The result is obviously going to be an obese child.

Coupled with addiction to unhealthy foods is the propensity to avoid exercising which in turn leads to excess of calories in the body that will then turn into fat and subsequent obesity. Parents need to understand that childhood obesity prevention is the solution to this vexing and dangerous problem. The sooner they take remedial action the better it will be for everyone concerned.

Of course, genetics too is a cause of childhood obesity as too is the environment as well as certain psychological reasons among which stress is known to play an important role. Though, today's lifestyles have made man more comfortable; they are also, at the same time, causing many people to ignore the need to exercise regularly and this in turn is cause of childhood obesity.
