HVAC Certification

In today’s highly competitive industrial workforce, employers prefer to employ workers who have obtained certification degrees in their chosen field. This holds true in the HVAC industry, the reason that people who wants to work in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration business are currently considering or taking up certain HVAC certification programs.

Luckily, the HVAC certification programs are now available in a number of choices. These HVAC certifications, however, are voluntary options as currently there is no mandatory state certification designed for the air conditioning and refrigeration technicians. Of the available certification options, two stand out as the best – the NATE certifications, and the HVAC Excellence certifications. Both of these options have been increasing in popularity.

The NATE HVAC certifications, on one hand, are designed to help the industry technicians to be competent in their own chosen field. There are a lot of programs involved in this HVAC certification though, but the most popular is the so-called “recognized training” program which basically follows the general agreement among the leaders in the industry which has something to do with developing the knowledge and skills of those who are working in HVAC industry.

In NATE, the HVAC certifications can only be earned by passing the certification examination which is designed to test how knowledge and skilled the technicians are. The test is categorized into two. The first is known as the CORE test which measures the technician’s capability for service and installation. The second is the Specialty test which is but offered for those who want to excel in their chosen field, be it air conditioning, oil heating, hydronics gas service, gas heating, air distribution, or air to heat pump service and installation. The HVAC certification offered by NATE can only be obtained by passing both of these tests of which 70% of the total score is the passing grade.

The HVAC Excellence certification, on the other hand, comes in a number of forms, not only two. There are the employment ready certifications, professional level certifications, master specialist certifications, and instructor certifications. Each of these HVAC certification programs differ according to their coverage, but all are designed and offered to help the industry technicians to obtain a wise step for their own progress.

It is worth noting that today all of the HVAC certification programs offered by NATE and HVAC Excellence are now made accessible through the net. Yes, they have actually established their own sites, allowing people to access and obtain certification credentials easily and quickly. So if you want to know more about there certifications, I found no reason for you not to visit their own portals on the web. You can find NATE certifications at NATEX.org, and more about HVAC Excellence certifications at HVACExcellence.org.
