Film Night School

The film industry is not some flat picture of glamorous stars strolling on the red carpet or flashing light bulbs. No, the film industry is a living creature, vital and dynamic. It is not figures on the box office list or typewritten words on a movie review. Those are mere incremental parts of something bigger.

For those of you want to be part of it, then you better be ready to learn and understand all the wonderful, intricate facets of the film industry. And where else can you do that but in a film night school? This is especially true for those who cannot afford to go attend as a full-time student. Because let's admit it right now, film school is expensive. But if you want to increase the odds in your favor, then film night school is the right choice.

Not only does a film night school provide you with film courses that are offered in other schools' curricula, it also allows you to get a temporary day job while attending your classes at night. It's a pretty good arrangement. If you are really passionate about the film industry, there's no reason why you won't want to try it.

How to Choose a Film Night School

The first step in any endeavor is always research. But when it comes to choosing a film night school, things are a little different. Before you do your research, you first need to have a clear idea of your career goal.

For instance, do you want to go into directing? Or would you rather act in front of the camera? Are you interested in cinematography and other technical aspects of filmmaking? Or are you more along the lines of the artistic, such as sound design, art direction, and scriptwriting?

Knowing the answers to those questions beforehand is a big help once you get to the next step, which is to research film night schools.

When researching film night schools, there are only four things to keep in mind. These are:

* Reputation - How long has the school been around? What are its alumni and other students whether or not from the same school saying about its methodologies and curriculum?
* Credentials - Does the school have the right credentials to back up its claims? How successful are its alumni in the world of filmmaking?
* Affiliations - Is the school connected with some large university? Does the school have direct relations with the industry, such as studios and film centers, in order to afford their students with practical learning courses?
* Faculty - Who are the teachers? What are their credentials? Have they had experience working in the film industry?

These four factors are the basic features of a film night school.
