The Graduate School of the University of North Carolina is a nurturing student-centered quality education, with its small-school atmosphere, and a tradition of individual attention since its founding in 1920. The comprehensive Career Services Center offers graduate students a full range of consultative services and career planning programs made possible by the school's student/faculty ratio of 15 to 1. The Graduate School also offers flexible programs with varying adaptive full-time, part-time, and evening schedules to foster full-time and part-time faculty of nearly 600, including many nationally and internationally renowned scholars with nearly 94 percent of them holding the highest degree attainable in their field of expertise.
As part of the Graduate School, the Greensboro North Carolina School of Nursing is mainly the Nursing Graduate School offered by the UNC. Committed to excellence, the Greensboro School of Nursing provides mutually supportive undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. The Greensboro North Carolina School of Nursing's teaching excellence fosters the development of knowledge and inquiry among its faculty and students grounded in the liberal arts, compatible with the nursing school's preparation standards for lifelong learning and professional nursing practice development.

The University's Greensboro North Carolina School of Nursing supports registered nurses in pursuing an advanced degree in nursing focusing their expertise under five areas. To prepare the students for the Master of Science in Nursing graduate program, the numerous Greensboro North Carolina School of Nursing graduate faculty offers the nurse students a thorough individual advising and studies on Nursing Adult Nurse Practitioner/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthesia, Nursing Administration, and Nursing Education.
