Regression In How To Speed Read

Regression in how to speed read is important. Regression is what slows down many readers from progressing in speed and comprehension. For the most part, regression is moving the eyes in backward motion or else repeating words read. Regression usually works in reverse, backups, or else through movement, which is both inadequate and pointless. Regression and its components tend to intrude on reading, as well as misconstrue the logical succession of information.

While experts may claim that regression reading is the worst thing any speed reader can do, the fact is, according to speed readers, at times speed readers can progress from regression. Some speed readers believe that regression will increase speed as well as the comprehension in reading. While arguments exist, the truth be told, those who read good only glance back on occasion to restate a word, yet rarely or the reader regress. Most speed readers will read on word as fast as they can, while rarely glancing back or using the eyes to move backwards.

Regressive readers are the involuntary, or the voluntary. Involuntary readers often form habits over the years of reading. Voluntary readers using regression strategies will often control their awareness while reading, in an effort to clarify situations, or points. Speed readers may sometimes volunteer to regress, which sometimes benefits them more reading. The strategy used sparingly will help augment comprehension.

We can show you a couple examples to help you see how both involuntary and voluntary readers work.

Sample:
The cat was stuck in the tree.

Speed reader:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The cat was stuck in the tree.

Involuntary reader:

The >>>>>>was>>>>>>tree

Notice the speed reader breezes through the sentence without hesitating, glancing back, or using eyes to reread the sentence. Noticed a regression reader shifted back and forth, which makes the simple sentence harder to read, as well as harder to comprehend.

Accordingly, speed reader's who claim that regression boosts speed and comprehension is misled. The fact is regression readers slow their speed, as well as their comprehension level.

With this in mind we see that speed reader's or those attempting to read fast will need to progress rather than regress while reading. Progress readers will choose material that they will not have to regress, everything they read.

In other words, progress readers will read material easiest to understand and relate to, thus promoting speed. Progress readers will develop skills and techniques that enable them to advance with speed and comprehension. Progress readers grow while advancing to the next level. Speed readers working to progress will improve techniques and skills by acquiring evolutionary steps that move them forward. Thus, progress is movement.

Overall, a regressive reader will lose 50 word counts for each time he regresses. In other words if you read for two hours consecutive you will have regressed a half-hour of reading. On the other hand a Progressive reader will pick up an extra half-hour in reading. Now if you want to spend a quarter of your time regressing, continue regressive reading. On the other hand if you want to read faster than take the steps to progress. All you have to do is set your mind to it in do it. When you set your mind to read faster your mind will comply. However you will want to remove clutter from your mind while reading. Therefore pick out a time of day which is best suited for you to read.

Each day you read, be sure to practice progress of reading while avoiding regression. You can do this by choosing familiar words, rather than staying stuck on words you do not know.
