ACIT Atlantic County Vocational Technical School

Atlantic County Institute of Technology is a vocational institution offering various vocational and technical training programs to high schools students and adults. Located in Mays Landing with campus site in the Hamilton Township Business Park, the vocational technical school is a public institution administered by the Atlantic County Vocational Technical School Board of Education.

The construction of the Atlantic County Institute of Technology began in 1974 and major renovation occurred in 1994. The renovation has made the school capable of upgrading its existing programs and adding new programs.

Atlantic County Institute of Technology is also known as Atlantic County Vocational Technical School. The school has existed as shared-time vocational technical school until the formation of career academies infused by the vocational technical school in 2000. It still offers shared-time programs that provide students technical training while taking academic classes in one of the eight public institutions in Atlantic county. The shared-time programs of Atlantic County Vocational Technical School include allied health, computer technology, personal services, clothing construction, transportation and construction.

Atlantic County vocational Technical School opened its doors to students who wanted to have academic instructions and vocational and technical training at the same time. The introduction of the Academy of Culinary and Hospitality Management in 2000 made the institution a technical school with academic courses. This has also enabled the school to have full-time students.

Academy of Information Technology commenced in 2001. It was followed by William J. Flynn Academy of Health Sciences and Medicine in September of 2004. The latest addition to Atlantic County Vocational Technical School full-time academies is the Academy of Math, Engineering and Science. The four-year high school program opened in 2007.

The academies of Atlantic County Vocational Technical School offer full-time programs to its grades 9-12 full-time students. Students can learn vocational skills as well academic courses. They can have the opportunity to partake in internships offered by the institution. They can opt for high-level positions in a certain industry or attend college upon graduation.

Atlantic County Vocational Technical School has accorded with Atlantic Cape Community College in an agreement that can help students, after completing the programs of the vocational technical school's academies to have a continuum of education. The Tech Prep program initiated by the institution can help graduates of any academy to earn college credits when they continue their education in the colleges that Atlantic County Institute of Technology have partnered with.

Atlantic County Vocational Technical School has also partnered with Camden County College. Students taking a dental assistant program in the vocational technical school can have the opportunity to transfer their credits to the latter institution.

Atlantic County Vocational Technical School is committed to helping their students prepare in the work field. Another of its goals that the school wanted to attain is to provide skilled employees to the region's employers.
