Bluetooth Compatibility For Microsoft Peripherals

Certain Microsoft Bluetooth-enabled devices come with a transceiver, specifically the Microsoft Mini USB Bluetooth transceiver to guarantee Bluetooth compatibility. This device will allow you to connect several devices to your computer wirelessly such as mobile phone, camera, Pocket PC, printer and etcetera.

For users of Bluetooth-enabled Microsoft products, Bluetooth compatibility is assured and setup is quick and easy via Microsoft's "First Connect Technology". This technology makes it possible for Bluetooth devices to be connected through a simple procedure whether you are connecting Microsoft to Microsoft peripherals or Microsoft to other brands of Bluetooth devices. The procedure will vary depending on the specific peripherals but they essentially aim to eliminate complicated setups.

To connect the Microsoft Bluetooth Mini USB Transceiver to another Bluetooth device, first, review the documentation provided with the Bluetooth peripheral for any particular instructions for connection. Next, activate the Bluetooth feature of the device. Usually, you can do this just by simply switching the device on. If that does not work, the device may have a specific Bluetooth button or setting. Again, check the product guide. Lastly, go to the "Windows Bluetooth Control Panel" and follow the steps to adding a device.

It is important to note that Microsoft only provides support for Bluetooth compatibility for its own products and for connecting its own devices to the Microsoft Mini Bluetooth USB Transceiver. For specific information on how to connect other manufacturer's Bluetooth peripheral, the user should consult the product documentation.

For those with devices (i.e. laptop) with a built-in Bluetooth transceiver, you can still use the Microsoft Mini USB Bluetooth Transceiver for your mouse and keyboard only while you keep using your other transceiver as you have been using it before without worries of Bluetooth compatibility or disconnections.

Upon detecting another Bluetooth transceiver, the Microsoft Bluetooth Transceiver will initiate a connection separately that covers only your Microsoft mouse and keyboard peripherals, allowing you to use them wirelessly without interruptions with other active Bluetooth connections.

It is possible to operate the Microsoft Bluetooth mouse and keyboard using some other Bluetooth transceiver but it must be running the Microsoft software for Windows Bluetooth so you can still get the complete features of the Microsoft peripherals. Check the documentation of your transceiver to find out what software it is using. You may be able to change the transceiver's software to the Microsoft Bluetooth software for guaranteed Bluetooth compatibility but this procedure is complicated and Microsoft does not provide support for this kind of set-up.
