What To Look For In Digital Camera Bags

What To Look For In Digital Camera Bags

We all know that photography can be an expensive hobby or profession. Pursuing a career in photography or even for just a hobby requires having the right equipment such as lenses, lights, and others aside from the camera itself. The accessories for a digital SLR or SLR can be pricey at best. That is why it comes as no surprise that most photographers are resourceful. Aside from the fact that it saves them a lot of money, DIY camera bags can be designed to be stealthy enough to prevent from catching the attention of would-be thieves. Since a thief may target a bag who is by all means very obvious in containing a expensive piece of equipment inside.

So how can you pull off a DIY camera bag of your own? First choose from a wide range of camera bag shells. It has got to be flexible enough for you to be able to make adjustments with it. An ordinary laptop bag, or even a businessman's tote bag will do. Since these type of bags are roomy and have their own pads and pockets, they will make for great DIY camera bags. You can just add in some cushions inside the bag itself in order to increase its protection and for the camera to be held in place.

Padding is also an important aspect to any camera bag. It keeps the camera inside from colliding or breaking. You can choose between a cell foam or a styrofoam as additional padding options. You can also opt to purchase affordable camera padding that is sold separately from the bags.

When it is time to craft a DIY camera bag, you can also use craft foam and ripstop nylon. Cut the foam to fit around your camera inside the camera bag. Then be suer to measure the nylon and cut it so in a way that it will be slightly larger than the foam. Sew both sides together and insert the foam into the nylon casing. Hand sew them using a hidden stitch and use fabric glue to attach the Velcro to the inserts. This will hold the foam in place. There you have your DIY camera bag ready for use!
