Fiber Optics Uses

For more than twenty years of its existence, fiber optics has already dominated over metal wires and cables. Fiber optics has continued to gain prominence because of its proven functionality that is hard to match baby metal made wires and cables. Fiber optics uses are so beneficial that more and more industries are switching to fiber optics.

Fiber optics uses are more advantageous than disadvantageous, perhaps the only concern of fiber optics is that it tends to become more expensive, but the benefits of fiber optics uses are far greater than the amount spent for its purchase. Fiber optics has gain mass appeal over the years because of its tremendous functionality. Internet savvy people sure have fiber optics to thank for, because of its capability to transfer data at lighting speed.

What industries that have benefited from fiber optics uses?

Telecommunications. Telephones all over the world are almost connected with fiber optics. The transfer of data is proven to be much clearer as compared to these that were connected with a metal wires and cables and have the data transmitted through a satellite. Telephone and facsimile cable that are made of fiber optics are now a commonplace. Even if fiber optics cable is hard to splice, very difficult indeed, still the telecommunications industry has continued its patronage of the fiber optics uses.

Computer Networking. Computer terminals are now connected with the use of fiber optics cables. The nice thing about fiber optics is that even if the cables are stretched over a long distance and have twisted several times, the quality of the data transmitted is not affected. Business process outsourcing (BPO) companies that greatly depended on the use of computers have spent a huge capital connecting all their computer terminals with fiber optics cables.

Medical Science. The medical world has been in awe with the use of the fiber optics. Many of the gadgets and medical facilities used by medical practitioners and scientists are all using the fiber optics. Because of the wonder fiber optics can do to science, endoscopes, laparoscopes and other gadgets that pass through body cavities are now used to diagnose certain types of diseases. Like a torchbearer, fiber optics lights the human cavity that the gadget is inserted into, thus easier for the medical practitioner to diagnose.

Aviation. Your famous Boeing 777 or rockets about to be launched have all used fiber optics. The utility of fiber optics has benefited the Aviation industry because fiber optics is used as sensors.

Fiber optics has many uses and many industries have benefited from it. In the few years to come, more industries will shift gears and switch to fiber optics.
