With the hundreds of television shows of different themes and varieties of concepts, one will never get bored as he surfs from one channel to the next, looking for the television show that will suit his taste, mood, and personality. More and more TV stations and channels are being added in cable, thus more and more television shows are being launched. Because of the diversity of people’s tastes, the TV networks’ writers’ think and write new ideas, concepts, and stories to satisfy their viewing audience. Recently, television shows range from game shows, reality TV, competitions, drama series, crime and investigative shows, action-packed shows, thriller-suspense anthologies, variety shows, gag shows, comedy skits, talk shows, make-over shows, inspirational shows, knowledge channels, travel and lifestyle programs, children’s shows, cartoons, news, business shows, and more. With the tough competition this industry is facing, the creative and resourceful the writers of these television shows are, the better. Since nowadays, many viewers are looking for a different spunk in the storylines and plots, the unique and eccentric the show is, the more popular it will become.
Television shows have definitely made a great impact on the society, both positive and negative effects. This just shows that as viewers, one must know what he’s watching, and he has to gauge the intensity of the show ---- meaning he’s watching it to enjoy and learn, and if there are things that need to qualified, he has to really distinguish which is right or wrong. In these times, viewers must be an intelligent audience, weighing and understanding it first before arriving at a conclusion or following what was shown. Being a good judge of the television shows would mean that the viewers just don’t accept everything given or presented to them, because it is in that way that people lose their sense of reality and discernment.
The viewing audience must know that not all shows are intended for everybody. Therefore, as a responsible viewer, he must screen what he’s watching, and analyze if he’ll get something beneficial, satisfaction, and fun after watching it. It just means that you’ve got to balance your free time, if there are no good shows on TV, then why not grab a good book instead.
