Peeking What’s Inside A Television Production

The world of television programming and broadcasting is a magnificent and fascinating industry. Audience and viewers enjoy the comfort of their homes while watching the shows on TV, but it’s a wonder that the great productions, shows, scenes, effects, acts, etc., simple though it may look, take a huge deal of risks and utilize a good deal of people, talents, and technology. What then makes a television production as effective and as efficient as people see it.

A television production may look simple and smooth as you see them shown on TV, but do you ever wonder about the scenes, actions, and preparations behind the camera --- try to look beyond what your eyes can see. It’s definitely not an easy task, it involves numerous staff and production people, high-end and high-tech equipments and gadgets, and of course a huge amount of investment. It’s just interesting to see that one production, no matter how simple it may be --- a 5-minute news update by one news anchor, or a 30-minute game show by two or three hosts --- needs big production preparation and involves as many backstage people as possible.

Nowadays, the basic ingredients of a good successful television production must have good hardware and software. When talking about hardware, it means that the production have an updated and upgraded system and equipment to efficiently deliver the message and relay the show to the viewers. On the other hand, the software refers to the techniques, talents, skills, and abilities of the human resources who will operate the production as efficiently as possible.

Small and large television productions may vary in their needs of the hardware and software factors. It’s possible that one crew handles one or two positions, depending on the kind of production also. For example, a makeup artist may also serve as a wardrobe crew. One person may carry the floor and technical directorship as well. What is important is that each staff must perform and do his or her functions and responsibilities with utmost efficiency. Since a television, production involves so many people working, teamwork and proper communication must be properly instilled in each member. In the technological aspect also, the engineers and directors must see to it that there’s regular maintenance and check-up of the equipments. They must see to it that before anything else, even during rehearsals or on the actual production, all the equipments must be properly secured and inspected for safety purposes, ensuring that the set and the people would be safe and that the production can be delivered and sent to the viewers effectively.

Experiencing the adrenalin rush in a television production has its ups and downs, but as long as each staff does his work well, the production would be a total success.
