Abdominal Exercisers

Popular Abdominal Exercisers

The focus of keeping fit has paved the way for workout programs geared to build up muscles in one's body. From building up biceps to triceps, the building up of abdominal muscles ranks among the most popular of workout regimens.

The makings of "six pack" abs involves a combination between a balanced high protein, low carbohydrate diet and a regular battery of abdominal exercises. Abdominal exercisers are basically exercise equipment which aid exercisers in their abdominal exercise routines. They are in no way machines which "do all the work" for exercisers, as the building up of impressive washboard abs takes more than just exercise, which in truth, takes discipline, determination and dedication as its major source of fuel.

Abdominal exercisers, as already mentioned, are simply around as workout aids for exercisers, ensuring safe workout flow and proper workout positions. They support workout regimens geared to strengthen the rectus abdominis, commonly known as the six pack muscles.

Here are some of the more popular abdominal exercisers available in the market. Though these exercise equipment aren't solely abdominal exercisers, the results they yield are no different.

The Exercise Ball

Among the most common of exercise equipment nowadays, an Exercise Ball stands to be quite effective as most abdominal exercisers are. Crunches are further enhanced with the use of an exercise ball, giving exercisers more muscle workout, with the proper consideration for the exerciser's safety during the workout flow.

To successfully do crunches with an exercise ball, the exerciser would have to lie face up on the ball, with both feet firmly planted on the ground. With this position as the starting point, the exercise is followed with the exerciser having to contract his/her muscles, lifting his/her upper torso off the ball about two to three inches, in a 30 degree angle, without rolling over or out of the exercise ball.

It may prove to be a challenge for most, but this is what abdominal exercisers have to cater in helping exercisers build up their abs.

The Roman Chair
Though labeled as such, a Roman Chair doesn't have anything to sit on, and is quite effective as other abdominal exercisers are. A Roman Chair is pretty much a padded board with two armrests on each side of the board, which stands perpendicular to the floor.

Exercisers aiming for toning their abdominal muscles position their arms on the armrests, with their legs hanging towards the ground. They then lift their legs, reaching their knees to their chests, completing the abdominal workout flow.

All in all, the two mentioned exercise equipments aren't solely abdominal exercisers, but function equally well as such.

If you're on the look out for the best abdominal exerciser, you may want to consider an exercise ball or a Roman Chair, as these exercise equipment aren't geared for working abs alone.
