Foods To Avoid In Your Pregnancy Fitness Diet

The ideal pregnancy fitness diet is all about healthy and well-balanced eating, which means it includes lots of vegetable and fruits, grains, protein, and plenty of hydrating fluids. As you research about the best pregnancy fitness diet, you will come across so many do's and don'ts. Do not fret too much if for instance you happened to eat something from the "do not eat" list. Just make sure that you avoid them going forward and you can do so if you create a healthy pregnancy fitness diet plan and stick to it.

One substance that you must avoid at any amount during pregnancy is alcohol. Likewise, food and drinks that contain caffeine should also be avoided. Both substances deplete your calcium storage and prevent your body from absorbing iron and folic acid, which are essential nutrients to pregnant women. They also have long-term adverse effects in the development of the fetus.

Junk foods are never good for you. They only contain empty calories, which means you and your baby will not get nutrients from them. So, even if you crave for potato chips or candy bars resist these foods and instead go for healthy substitutes like fresh fruits.

When it comes to fat, you need to limit your intake even when you are pregnant. You cannot avoid it entirely in your pregnancy fitness diet because even vegetables and fruits have some fat in them but choose foods with as little amount of fat as possible.

When choosing milk and other dairy products like cheese and yogurt, make sure you get pasteurized products because these are the ones that are free from bacteria. Fortunately, most milk products in the grocery store are pasteurized. Just check the labels of the foods you buy.

Several sea foods are also not good for pregnant women such as oysters and fishes high in methyl mercury like swordfish, king mackerel and shark. If you are fond of Japanese food, skip the sashimi and sushi for now. However, you can include a few portions of oily fishes in your pregnancy fitness diet every week.

Other foods that it is best for you to avoid during pregnancy include cured meats and raw meats and eggs because they may contain harmful bacteria. Be careful with drinking herbal teas during pregnancy because some herbs contain strong effects such as raspberry tea, ginseng and green tea, which can lead to contractions. Ginger teas and mint teas are fine.

While it is important to keep in mind which foods to avoid during pregnancy, do not obsess over it. Just focus on eating balanced meals and choosing nutritious foods to include in your pregnancy fitness diet and you and your baby will be perfectly fine.
