Basic And Simple Black Hair Care

Black is definitely beautiful especially with their amazingly distinct hair intricately braided in a unique style. Black’s genetically curlier hair allows them to easily and almost naturally wear those stylishly meticulous braids. And just like in working those braids, however, the very tiny curls also requires a unique and special black hair care regimen, which can also be very challenging for some.

The basic step in black hair care is moisture maintenance. Black hair’s tiny curls make it hard for the natural oils in the scalp to produce more moisture. The lack of enough moisture, on the other hand, makes the hair more prone to heat and environmental rudiments resulting to dryness and breakage. Moisture adding hair care products are advised to regularly apply in the hair such as conditioners especially leave-ons. A regular hot oil treatment in the salon is also advised to add moisture for the hair. Avoid washing the hair more than once a week to keep the little natural oils from being washed or drawn out.

Black hair care, moreover, requires usage of specially-made hair care products that strengthen very delicate and brittle black hair brought by the lack of natural moisture from the scalp. Black hair also tends to be more brittle and dry compared to non-black hair because most of them have their hair relaxed to achieve a straight hair look. Hair relaxing treatment, however, most often than not weakens the hair and damage it in time. It is further aggravated with the use of straightening iron and blow dryer, which are used to maintain that straight hair look.

Black hair care, therefore, involves a more critical and choosy attitude on applying hair products to hair. When going for a straightening treatment, for instance, tell salon attendants to use high-quality products. The same goes in choosing a regular shampoo and conditioner.

Being gentle and nice to your hair is also part of black hair care regimen. Avoid subjecting it to friction, which could cause breakage and damage. Sleeping with a soft cloth wrap in the head that protect that hair from being twisted and tangled would help. Less twisted and tangled hair saves hair from too much friction of brushing and combing. Try also using a satin case on your bed pillow not only to avoid constant rubbing of your hair but also to help maintain a split-end free hair.

Ultimately, proper black hair care needs patience and discipline in strictly following its basic steps to healthy looking hair.
