Hairstyles: Redefining Age And Style

Hairstyles are now one of the barometers people use to tell the age and the kind of style one has even with one’s back only facing them. The basis for this, perhaps, is the socially proven notion that a certain hairstyle unconsciously appeals to a certain age. Take, for instance, our grannies aged 60 and above whose helmet hairstyles seemed exclusive for women their age. Choosing a hairstyle today, however, no longer limits one to accord it with age rather it is now used to express one’s individuality and style and even allows one to defy age itself.

At this age and time, everyone’s allowed to break the rules even in choosing hairstyles. Oldies can wear a hairstyle worn by youngsters while young people can get a hairstyle to look mature and more respectable. Whatever works for them, hairstyles create a new age of freedom for old and young alike. Here’s how to go about it.

The 20s. If you’re on your 20’s, it’s the best time to go experimenting on the hottest different hairstyles in town. Stop constraining yourself in maintaining a super long hair. It’s all right to start cutting it off and try on a new look with perhaps a short hair since your hair grows faster and thicker at this age. You can add hair highlights or change hair color that would best help exude the mature youth in you.

The 30s. Working moms mostly fall to this age. Unlike before however, women in their 30’s could set aside plain ponytail style and get both funky and stylish with their hairstyle today such as wearing sexy long locks or waves and try on trendy hair accessories to hold it neatly when doing home chores or when taking care of the baby.

The 40s. Life begins at 40 so stop wearing yourself old and try on hairstyles that would revive that youthful glow in you. Although you can’t be as experimentive as you were on your 20’s but at least be more open to reinventing yourself such as confidently sporting long chic waves or curls or sleek layers if you want really a short hair. Just be extra caring to you hair, which easily gets brittle at this age, and give it a regular hot-oil treatment and trimming at the parlor.

The 50s. Spice it up with shoulder-length and voluminous hair. Don’t overdo or over style your hair because it will only make you look older. Go for natural-looking hairstyle that exudes a bouncy and healthy hair.

The 60s. Short hairstyles best suit women in their 60’s since it is less tedious to maintain and style. Go, however, for a trendy short hairstyle offered in modern salons and stay away from the helmet cut. Don’t worry about the silver hair since it’s a sexy trend today.

No matter how old or young you are the most important thing is to wear a hairstyle that helps you exude the best confidence in you.
