Exfoliating Your Face And Lips

In order to keep your face and lips in good condition, you need to moisturize and exfoliate them on a regular basis.

Exfoliate your lips by using a gentle scrub and scrubbing your lips with a soft toothbrush or just your fingertips. You can also use lip balm mixed with sugar and then scrub your lips with that paste. Because sugar dissolves faster and is gently textured, it is skin friendly. You can also mix baking soda with a little water and then use that to exfoliate your lips. Leave it on your lips for a minute and then rinse off with lukewarm water. If you have dry and flaking lips, try applying petroleum jelly on them. Rub the petroleum jelly gently using a damp cloth so that the dead cells are removed. Cover your lips with lip balm after. The lip balm will seal in moisture to prevent your lips from drying any further.

Use gentle exfoliating agents to exfoliate your face and remove the dead cell layer. To exfoliate, moisten your face. Apply exfoliating cleanser on a sponge or on your fingers. Gently rub your face with it in a circular fashion. Avoid scrubbing under your eyes because you might damage the thin skin there. Rinse your face with lukewarm water. After every exfoliation, make sure you apply moisturizer with alpha or beta hydroxy acids, which slough off additional dead cells and help the exfoliating process. You can also try applying an inexpensive facial mask. Mash papaya and spread it on your face. The enzymes in the papaya help in exfoliating the skin. Keep the mask for 15 minutes and then rinse your face thoroughly.

When you are exfoliating your lips and face, avoid over-exfoliating them. Avoid using exfoliating cleansers that are harsh. These types of exfoliating cleansers are abrasive and may damage the skin underneath. Choose an exfoliating cleanser that has a mild formulation. Better yet, go to a dermatologist. He or she will be able to recommend the best exfoliating cleanser that is suitable to your type of skin.
