What Is The Raw Food Diet?

Have you been hearing a lot about the Raw Food Diet? It is attaining fame and buzz, not merely as a diet to slim down, but also as diet for a long and wholesome life. We ingest a great deal of processed food and we do not stop to consider what we are placing into our bodies, and how far we have come nutritionally from our early ancestral, agricultural roots.

A raw food diet means eating food in its natural, untreated form. There are numerous sensible principles for why this is a great idea. Processing and preparing food may take much of the basic nutritional value away. Consider a some of the conventional wisdom you have heard about for a long time, for instance: If you boil pasta just to the al dente stage, it'll contain more calories, that's true, but it will have more nutritional value than if you prepared it to a well done stage. Or you likely recall hearing not to pare carrots or potatoes excessively deep, because many of the nutrients and values are near the surface.

The raw food diet involves consuming unprocessed, uncooked, organic, whole foods, like fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, dried fruits, seaweeds, and so forth. It entails a diet that's at least seventy-five per cent raw! Cooking removes flavor and nutrition of vegetables and fruits. A raw food diet entails eating more like the way our ancestors ate. Our more robust, healthier ancestors. They prepared very little, and surely did not process or cook fruits and vegetables. They ate them RAW. Their water was not from a water faucet; it was natural, spring water. Possibly they drank some coconut milk now and then.

It just makes sense that this is the way our bodies were meant to eat. It is a way of eating that's harmonized with the planet and with our own metabolisms. Our bodies are meant to work, and have to work to be effective. That means exercising, for sure, but it likewise means eating natural, raw foods that need more energy to digest them.
