English Tea And Its Genesis

The origin of tea, for some valuable reasons, has no definite story. It is considerable that the use of tea as a beverage which is drunk for pleasure on social occasions dates from the Tang Dynasty or even earlier. However, when the tea is introduced to Europe, the Portuguese explorers were the first to encounter tea. The dissemination continues and reached England, which then is the beginning of the emergence of English tea.

For such historical event, the English tea is noted to have attributed to Catherine of Braganza who is a Portuguese princess and the consort of Charles II of England. It is also noted that the emergence of English tea dates from about 1650.

According to some studies, the English tea was introduced to England through the effort of the London coffee houses. One of the remarkable English to offer English tea was Thomas Garway, a coffee house merchant who owned as establishment in Exchange Alley. And it is considerable to note that Thomas Garway sold both liquid and dry English tea to the public as early as 1657.

With such effort, the English tea gained popularity speedily in the coffee houses, and amazingly by 1700 over 500 coffee houses sold English tea. And with such introduction, the English tea became well known as having virtues at making the body alive and brawny and at preserving perfect health until extreme old age. Later on, the English tea had become the lucky drink of England’s lower classes.

Following to the event that took place during the early part of the introduction of the English tea, many events happened such as the England taxation for English tea, and spreading shipment of English tea. At that time, the English tea was then shipped from Holland and Scandinavia to the British coast. For most English people, the English tea was the most pleasurable source of livelihood, and as such many English tea gardens including the emergence of the English tea customs were established.

After the massive establishment of many English tea gardens, it is noted that for most English people, the English tea is healthful and natural. This is due to the fact that as we all know, the tea or in particular the English tea contains less caffeine per cup than coffee. As such, the low amount of caffeine in the English tea has been recognized to sustain energy levels without stuffy effects. And for good reason, the refined reactions of the English tea provide a touch of reposeful alertness while sustaining energy.

Finally, the pleasure given by the English tea is worthwhile because enjoying a cup of English tea costs only pennies a cup, depending on the level of irregularity of the mixture. It is as well noted that even a cup of the irregular lose English tea only costs less than some ordinary bagged English teas which then allowed that English tea consumers everywhere to afford the pleasure given by a fine cup of English tea.
