A Guide to French Gourmet Cuisine Wedding

Whether your wedding is in a French village or in another country, a French gourmet cuisine wedding and reception promises to be filled with elegance. You can have a day or evening French gourmet cuisine wedding where you can either serve a traditional French lunch or dinner. Whatever your choice, your French gourmet cuisine wedding menu should include l'entrée or starter, le plat principal or the main course, le fromage or cheese, and le dessert.

If you would like to follow French tradition, Sunday lunches are at 1 pm so you can also have your reception at this time. One important thing that you should not forget when having a French gourmet cuisine wedding is that the first part of the reception is welcoming your guests with a drink and a few aperitif or appetizers. This is also an excellent opportunity for you to mingle and introduce your guests to each other.

The best drink is to serve is Champagne but you have many other options such as Porto or Martini. You can also try one of the popular French drinks, the Kir, which is made of dry white wine with spoonful of cassis. As for the aperitif, some of your options are canapés with French spreads, vegetables with a variety of French dips, olives, crab sticks and cheese cakes.

For starters in your French gourmet cuisine wedding, you can have cold or hot starters or a combination of both. Typically, starters include small salads, patés and smoked ham. If you are having a traditional French gourmet cuisine wedding, the main course should be a meat dish with one or two vegetable dishes. You can also substitute fish for red meat. The classic choices include roast lamb, mutton, or beef with potatoes and French beans.

Green salad is often served after the main course followed by Le fromage or cheese. At least three or four types of cheese are included in a cheese platter. A classic example of a cheese board or cheese platter include Camembert and Brie, considered the French national cheeses, Goat's milk cheese, Ewe's milk cheese, cooked cheese, and Fromage frais. Cheese platters are usually served with red wine. It is also a great idea to serve it with lettuce salad and some French vinaigrette.

Your French gourmet cuisine wedding will not be complete without le dessert. French desserts are light compared to desserts of other countries. Tarts are typically served for dessert. They can also be hot or cold. Other dessert recipes you can include in your French gourmet cuisine wedding are oven-baked apples, baked caramel custard, berries gratin or the all-time favorite chocolate mousse. Do not forget coffee is always served after a French dessert, typically, a strong espresso.

When it comes to drinks, you should have 2 glasses per guest, one for red and/or white wine and another for still or sparking water. Soft drinks and beer are not deserved in a classic French gourmet cuisine wedding.
