Buying Commercial Kitchen Appliances

When starting a new restaurant or catering company, or even when renovating a kitchen in an existing business, there is the need to buy new commercial kitchen appliances. These purchases can be huge expenses, so it is sometimes a better choice to buy used commercial kitchen appliances, such as from a restaurant or other company that is going out of business. The danger to buying used appliances is that there is not always a warrantee that is available (if the owner did not keep up with it) and there is also no guarantee as to the current condition of the appliances.

What is Needed

No matter what the situation, there are certain pieces of commercial kitchen appliances that are needed to run any business. There is refrigerated equipment for storing the food items to keep them within the temperatures recommended by the health inspector, as well as having the space to store food without meats and vegetables becoming intermingled. In addition, there are freezers that are needed in commercial kitchen appliances for storing frozen goods as well as glass refrigerators for storing drinks and desserts on display for the customers to purchase.

In addition to refrigerator items, there is also cooking equipment that is needed in commercial kitchen appliances. These appliances vary according to the needs of the restaurant or catering company, but almost always include fryers, griddles, charbroilers, steam equipment, microwaves, grills, warmers and other hot plates and ranges. In addition, there are different specialty items such as smokehouses, toasters, waffle makers, outdoor grills and sandwich grills that can be made to fit the different needs of the business.

There are other commercial kitchen appliances that are needed so that there is space in the kitchen for the chefs and helpers to move and work. There are sinks, shelves and storage areas that are needed and are usually made of stainless steel for easy cleaning and the ability to keep the kitchen sanitary at all times. There are also dishwashers, pots, pans, plates, silverware, and other items that are needed for food preparation such as spatulas, spoons, strainers, and whisks.

If the company is a catering company, then there are other commercial kitchen appliances that are needed for the transport of items to the different service areas. Some of these items are trays, beverage carts, plastic utensils, displays, and other food bar items. In addition, there have to be chafers and also cold food pans so that the food can be served according to the different needs.
