Clarity Enhanced Diamond: A Matter Of Processing The Diamond To Make It More Appealing

To repeat a cliché, diamonds are certainly a woman's best friend and the reason for this is also not hard to find. Their beauty attracts every woman – whether or not the diamonds are in natural state or have been cut and polished. The clarity enhanced diamond too has of late begun to attract a lot of attention and many more women are opting for this kind of diamond. However, before adding a clarity enhanced diamond to your jewelry collection you need to know what they really are and how and why do consumers end up buying them.

Fracture Filling And Laser Drilling

Clarity enhanced diamond is a type of diamond that has been through a couple of procedures which ensure that the clarity of the diamond is enhanced and this is how it gets its name. The two different procedures that need to be performed are laser drilling as well as fracture filling with the former implying that a very small sized hole needs to be drilled into the diamond. Then laser beams are sent inside the diamond where inclusions (a type of flaw in clarity) as well as markings are drilled out.

Fracture filling on the other hand requires use of substance that fill up any cracks that have formed in the diamond. After fracture filling and laser drilling have been performed you can expect the diamond to have excellent clarity and this alone is a major reason why the clarity enhanced diamond is so appealing to buyers.

Laser drilling is of course the main kind of procedure that is used to create the clarity enhanced diamond since it gives more permanent results which is not obtainable through use of fracture filling. However, whichever type of procedure is performed, the clarity enhanced diamond must, in the end, not show any signs that it has been through a procedure that helps to make it look better.

There are a number of reasons why people purchase the clarity enhanced diamond. For one these diamonds are more affordable than natural diamonds and secondly the appearance of such diamonds is so appealing that it is hard to not purchase one.

It is diamond clarity and color that help in grading the diamond. However, in the case of the clarity enhanced diamond, it is the overall look of the diamond, which is generally very clear, that attracts buyers, even in spite of the fact that they know that this appearance is on account of processing the diamond rather than the diamond's natural characteristics.
