Golf Swing

A golf swing is never intimidating to watch or learn but for an approach that's so mundane it is in fact notoriously difficult to master.

Golf is one of those games that are never intimidating to watch or learn. After all, how hard is it to swing a ball? Yet for an approach that seemed so mundane that you could swear to do it with one eye closed, a golf swing is in fact difficult -notoriously difficult that even highly skilled golf masters do tend to practice over the years to hone their skills. On a comparative level, it is no surprise to find a dedicated beginner going through golf swing lessons for several months before taking his first ball on the course.

A golf swing is disreputably difficult to learn. It doesn't constitute only on hitting squarely the ball. It has form and it has balance. And more importantly it has a correct flow of executions to create a reliable and consistent golf swing.

Difference between Hitting the Golf Ball and Making a Golf Swing

Hitting the ball is the basal golf shot but executing a golf swing is entirely different. A golf swing is a complex body rotation with an aim to accelerate the golf swing at the greatest achievable speed. This is very easy in writing but ridiculously hard in practice. The component of a golf swing consists of a backswing (the act of pulling the club and your arm in preparation for the hit), the downswing (the time when the club hits the ball), and the follow through (which can be as essential as the downswing in terms of propelling and guidance). Depending on the choice of shot, the mechanics will be different however slightly.

Basic Golf Swing Address

Being relaxed is the key. Most novice golfers do tend to go "baseball grip" and hit it in a baseball manner. That is what we call baseball shot. The effect is like baseball too, inconsistent power and zero accuracy. Start by being relaxed. It sounds a bit cheesy but the approach of a golf swing is more of a mental preparation. At the Address, you stand in front of the ball, intending to hit the ball to the direction your left side (shoulder and hip) is pointing. Now, to adjust your form, stand a foot back from the ball and adjust the way you bend your back. To do this correctly, hold the golf club beside the ball. Remember, your feet must be slightly together, not widely spaced apart. Try to simulate the backswing and the downswing slowly if everything is in line.

The Golf Swing

The golf swing is Backswing, Downswing, and the Follow Through. Now that you know how to do the Address, the golf swing would be relatively easier. Again, before you do the swing, try to simulate it first. And relax; a tense muscle restricts movement.

Another thing about golf swing is understanding the four laws of contact. The clubface dictates the curve. The path of your golf swing dictates the ball's initial direction without the curve. The angle of the golf swing as it hits the ball dictates the trajectory and the swing power dictates distance.

Reading how to do a golf swing is never effective. The best learning experience is by watching those who could do it perfectly. PGA Certified John Dunigan can show you how: www.golfbetterproductions.com
