PRESCRIPTION ADDICTION

Many addictions are often so covert and pervasive that they are as invisible to a person as they just don't exist. A person consciously at times is not aware of his dependence on a particular thing yet his dependence may be affecting as negatively as much as that of overt addictions.

Prescriptions Addictions is also one of such kind, which starts unknowingly, and until the time person gets aware of it, he already becomes an addict of it.
Prescriptions are doctor prescribed drugs that are given when illness exist. These are given with a specific purpose, as a cure to existing ailment or as a source of relief from the growing pain.

Some people experience chronic pain and max out on painkillers to reduce the suffering and this lead to increasing dependence on the former. While others might learn to rely on the drugs, to receive a high feeling that they experience during their treatment and thus become addict of it.

The problem is that many prescriptions given by doctors have addictive ingredients as Ultracet, Tramadol, Vioxx, Celebrex, mobic, bextra, imitrex, etc which led to their abuse in form of substance of addiction.

According to statistics, prescriptions are one of the leading drug addictions today. Addictions coming from prescriptions have statistically rated as ten times more common than street drugs.
In addition, the victims generally fall into this unknowingly as they started out their use in form of a medicine rather then a drug.

The side affects of some medications can lead to cross addictions, such as dependence on other drugs like cocaine or heroin etc. and to the acts like suicidal thinking, depression, etc. The prescription drugs including tranquilizers and other medications including sleeping pills have a fear for overdoses, which even can result in death of person.

The addictive nature of drugs varies, i.e. many drug users strive to fill a need, which starts with small consumptions, and leads to excessive usage. In addition, a person psychologically or genetically predisposed may become addicted to drugs etc, and has higher chances of becoming a dependency.

Drug addiction can lead to two kinds of dependency - physical dependence where body becomes accustomed to the drug and triggers withdrawal symptoms in case the drug is discontinued such as Fatigue, pain etc while the other dependence can be in form of
Psychological dependency starts when a person's mind becomes habitual of the stimulant and does not feel capable of functioning without it.

Drug addiction can be controlled in time if the user of the particular prescription, notices his increasing dependence on the same. One method is to discontinue the same or to change it with the other type or salts that serve the same purpose. The other way can be reduction in the amount of intake as then mind wont get too accustomed for the drug.

In case the condition is severe then addiction therapy can be of help where a monitored medication is given to neutralize the effect of former drugs. Always one should keep in mind that self-willingness is of prime importance to get rid of this problem.The side affects of some drugs can lead to cross addictions, such as dependence on other drugs like cocaine or heroin etc. and to the acts like suicidal thinking, depression, etc. Drug addiction can be controlled in time if the user of the particular addiction, notices his/her increasing dependency of the drug. Overall, you need a will to stop and a support system to enforce the course of quitting the drugs. Psychological dependency starts when a person's mind becomes habitual of the stimulant and does not feel capable of functioning without it, thus we see habit forming is part of the problem.

Therefore, we need to form good habits to stop this ongoing war of drugs!
