Alcoholism

What Everyone Of You Out There, Including Professionals Need To Know About Alcoholism

Most of you have probably known someone who is addicted to drugs or alcohol or you yourself might have been in the past or are dealing with this problem currently. If so, then you know far too well what alcoholism and drug addiction can do to a person. It can change everything about them, if the drugs and alcohol are being used frequently. People that you would have never thought could possibly be controlled by such substances have absolutely lost total control over their lives and can not seem to get a grip on things professionally or personally. Alcoholism does not only hurt you physically, mentally and emotionally, it will also hurt you professionally and personally. It is a painful, sometimes shameful disease that nobody is too good to get.

If you go into your workplace, and on you are taking illicit drugs or abusing alcohol, then you are putting yourself and your place of employment in serious risks to serious problems. You could get hurt on the job, which would probably require you to take some sort of blood test/drug test, which means if you are under the influence in any way, you will more than likely be terminated. When you are attempting to work and are using drugs or alcohol, your productivity will decrease and you will cost the business you are working for to lose money because of your irresponsible behavior. The people that you work with more than likely begin to notice your change of behavior and someone might even mention it to your boss, which could mean bad news for your job if they are able to prove that you are doing something wrong.

There are many signs and symptoms that your employer should be aware of, which include, changes in mood or behavior, red eyes, erratic like behavior, depressed, changes in appearance and poor work habits. These things, if noticed could eventually cost you your good job, your way of well being, your means to survival sometimes. It is important that all of these things are recognized so that you will know if someone around you might be using illegal drugs or abusing alcohol. Alcoholism and drug addiction are very common unfortunately and if you notice some behavior changes in an employee or a friend, perhaps try to talk with them about what you have noticed, be prepared for denial though, most people do not ever want to admit that they have a problem.

Alcoholism can require extensive care with some people because of their dependency severity, other may not require much time at all in one of these types facilities, it is different for some people. The reasons as to why so many people are abusing drugs and alcohol vary from person to person, usually it is from some underlying issues that were very hurtful in their life that they have chosen not to discuss with anyone for different reasons. They just find solace in drugs and alcohol, so they can cover up their real feelings and issues that have haunted them for a long time.
