Humidifiers And Allergy Relief

Many of us are lead to believe that humidifiers can keep dust mites at bay. Experts, manufacturers and vendors all tell us that if we add a few humidifiers to our home we can keep away air pollutants that cause us allergies. At one time, I too was convinced that this is possible, yet after recent studies I too stand to discover the facts.

Contrary to beliefs, running a humidifier in a home where dust mites rely on humidity can increase allergy attacks. Humidifiers produce moisture. Dust mites strive to live in moisturized conditions. The moisture gathers in carpets mostly, which is where dust mites will retreat to find moisture to survive.

According to few medical experts, humidifiers rarely help reduce allergic symptoms, such as asthma, sinus, nasal allergies or bronchitis.

How do dust mites cause allergies?
Dust mites cause allergies by producing potent fecal pellets. These pellets are produced in around four weeks. When the home is not cleaned for a period, the airborne pellets cause allergies to occur. The airborne pellets often stick to furniture, mattresses and carpet, sticking to the dust.

Once the pellets expel and go airborne, the particles often attack the lungs and nose. Once the pellets disturb the lungs and nose allergy symptoms begin to develop. The conditions that occur from dust mites are based on the count.

Dust mites demand humidity, food and security to dwell in homes. Dust mites habitat in bedding, carpets, stuffed toys, clothing, or anywhere they feel safe. Dust mites acquire moisture since these arachnids diffuse air and moisture through their shells instead of through airways.

So how do I get rid of dust mites?
Dust mites are prohibited from surviving in temperatures at 83 F in winter months and between 28 C and up to 34 C in the summer months.

What type of allergies occurs from dust mites?
Dust mite allergies are treated with medications usually. Sometimes dust mites will cause Rhinitis. It is hard to tell however if a person has Rhinitis caused from dust mites simply because pet hair, pollen and mold will cause Rhinitis also.

How are allergies from dust mites treated?
Doctors generally consider basic medications when treating dust mite allergies. Some of the latest meds used to treat dust mite allergies include NASONEX. This medication is a nasal spray solution that works to relieve most allergy symptoms.

Doctors sometimes consider Corti-Costeroids, antihistamines and sometimes shots to relieve allergies caused from dust mites. Some patients are treated with shots, which are desensitization treatments to the allergies.

In short, the shots have related dust mite particles, which the doctor uses to immune the body to dust mites.

Allergens are what start allergy attacks. For this reason doctors often find solutions that target allergens, such as pollen, dust mites, mold and so on.

Pollen according to various sources is the cause of most allergies still mold takes second place. Because the immune system weakens from pollen and mold attacks many people believe that dust mites, dust, pet dander and other particles attack the system due to its weakness.

For the most part, you will need to find a temperature in your home to reduce dust mites.

More about allergies:
Allergies in short are hypersensitivity reactions. The normal substances, such as pollen and mold often affect the immune responses incorrectly. Antigens affect the body, which our mast and white blood cells, as well as our antibodies fail to defeat these attacks.

Once the elements of our body fail to ward off these antigens, allergens start which usually affects vulnerable individuals. To learn more about allergies and relief consult with your doctor today.
