What Is An Antioxidant?

If there is anyone out there who is still not aware of what an antioxidant is, then there is no better time than now for them to learn. Whether you take an actual antioxidant or end up wanting to take an antioxidant supplement, of course you are going to need to be aware of what it actually is first and what health benefits these antioxidants have to offer you.

What it is

An antioxidant is quite simply, something that works to slow down or even prevent oxidation. Not only do they help to keep cholesterol down in the body, but also just make sure that the body is kept in the best possible health. It is vital to make sure that you are getting enough antioxidants if you want to fight the signs of aging, because they help to slow down the oxidation or aging of the skin.

The problem is that most people have no idea what antioxidants are and therefore are clueless as to where they can get them from.

Where to Find Them

You can find a high antioxidant level in a variety of foods, but especially leafy dark green vegetables such as spinach. These vegetables are packed full of antioxidants, and so you are going to be really well off if you are eating three to four servings a day because you will be getting a ton of these antioxidants into your body.

Green tea is actually one of the best things to take if you want to find a high antioxidant level. Green tea has been known for years now as offering numerous health benefits, including that it provides that body with lots of antioxidants. You can either take green tea supplements if you would rather, or if you enjoy having a cup of tea, you can just steam some green tea and enjoy it that way.

No matter how you go about it, the most important thing is that you are including foods in your diet that are high in antioxidants so that you can take advantage of the health benefits that come from getting enough antioxidants in your diet. You can talk to your doctor more about this and they will be able to offer more ideas on the different foods that you can eat to get antioxidants, and as well what antioxidants can do for your body. If you really want to stay as healthy as possible, then you are going to want to make sure you get enough antioxidants.
