There are a number of different things that can be a symptom of social anxiety.

Symptoms Of Social Anxiety

Most often social anxiety occurs in a public setting. Maybe you are standing in line at the grocery store or shopping at the mall. You might get a sudden feeling that everyone is watching your every move. Some people might not be bothered by this and may even welcome the attention. For others it can be very upsetting. They might feel their heart start to race and may even notice that they are suddenly sweating. For people that find themselves in this type of situation it is very possible that they could be suffering from social anxiety.

Another common symptom of social anxiety is muscle tension. People can stiffen up when they are placed in an uncomfortable situation. To go along with this, a person might even notices that their voice cracks or is shaky when they try to hold a conversation. Their mouth might even feel dry and they might find it hard to swallow.

Other people feel nauseous when social anxiety starts to set it. The feeling of nervous butterflies can fill the stomach. This can lead to things like dizziness and some people might notice that the palms of their hands become extremely clammy. As social anxiety can make the heart start to beat faster, a person might even develop flushed cheeks as a result.

Every person suffering from social anxiety might exhibit different symptoms. They might also vary in the degree in which they suffer from these symptoms. Some people might find that they become drenched in sweat caused by the apprehension that they experience. Other people might generally find that they clench up in awkward situations where they find themselves uncomfortable.
