Arthritis Remedy

Arthritis Remedy

Arthritis is a form of disease that is comprised of over a hundred different medical conditions. It can affect anyone at any time of their life. The National Institutes of Health reported that nearly 70 million adults and 300,000 children in America suffer from arthritis.

People with arthritis suffer from painfully inflamed joints that occur early during the day or just before rest. Some forms of this disease are remissive, meaning they go on periodic remissions and flare ups without ever really going away completely. In some severe cases, the pain becomes too much to bear that a person is rendered immobile and perhaps even disabled.

The good news is that there are many treatment therapies and arthritis remedy available to help arthritic patients cope with their pain. Arthritis remedy may not be able to cure the disease entirely but it does help the patient live his life to the fullest without undergoing too much pain as a result.

Many arthritis remedy and medications are pain killers, promising pain relief, stronger bones, and sounder sleep. Many are supplement forms of herbs, vitamins, minerals, and other natural, exotic and even synthetic substances. These arthritis remedy combinations can frequently be bought right off the shelves and they include the following:

Black Currant Seed Oil

This arthritis remedy comes from the seeds of black currant (Ribes nigrum). Remember that it is the oil of the black currant seeds that contain properties (19% gammalinolenic acid or GLA) that may help alleviate arthritic pain, so do not confuse it with black currant berry.

Black currant seed oils are sold in capsules, ranging from 500mg to 1,000mg. Look at the GLA concentration before buying. Buy only those that contain around 0.2 to 0.3 grams of GLA.

Cat’s Claw

Another herb that may be used as an arthritis remedy is cat’s claw, a woody vine that grows in the Amazon rainforests of Peru. The dried root bark of this plant contains anti inflammatory properties that can be used to treat osteoarthritis of the knees.

This arthritis remedy comes in the form of capsules, tablets, or tea bags with varying dosages. Side effects may include headache, dizziness, and vomiting.

Wood Spider

A traditional herbal plant used in South Africa and Namibia, the wood spider can be used as an arthritis remedy for pain relief and as an anti inflammatory. It is available in capsule form though you can also buy its powdered root or as a tea. Recommended dosage is six 435 mg capsules a day or 1-405 grams of powdered root or tea daily.

This arthritis remedy contains the active ingredient, harpagoside, a substance that can reduce pain and inflammation in the joints. A recent clinical human study showed that wood spider can actually relieve osteoarthritic pain in the knee and hip.

There are of course several more herbs that may help ease the pain that an arthritic patient suffers. Besides those provided above, these herbs include: eleuthero (Eleutherococcus senticosus), evening primrose oil (Oenathera biennis), fever few (Tanacetum parthenium), and flaxsweed oil (Linum usitatissimum).
